Kids can hone their skills by being a part of the two basketball camps available in Poinciana during June.
The first offered is AAU boy’s basketball. Hosted by Poinciana Hoops, this event is for young men 16 and under. This will be June 18-20 at Poinciana High School and Horizon Middle School (Ham Brown Road). Medals and trophies will be awarded.
Entry fee is $295. Deadline to register is June 11. For more information, contact Missy Peters, 321-624-4521.
New Dimensions High School will hold the Shooter’s Gold basketball camp June 21 – 24. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for students entering grades five through eight.
The $80 fee includes camp T-shirt, instruction, breakfast and lunch. For more information, call Coach Adams, 407-592-3028.

The Association of Poinciana Villages is accepting applications for its annual summer camp. The camp starts June 10 and runs until Aug. 21, and goes from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., at the Poinciana Community Center, 395 Marigold Ave.
The fee is $55 per week and includes lunch and snack. For more information, call 863-427-1827.

The Poinciana Community Center is sold out for the fourth annual Business Expo, which will be Saturday, June 12. There is still space available on the outdoor grounds and the Poinciana Family YMCA. For the first time, new merchandise may be sold.

Many children look forward to the Summer Reading program at the Poinciana Branch Library. This year, teens are invited to join in as well.
The summer reading program starts with a kick-off party and fun for the entire family. The kick-off is Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. Get excited about reading with this cool summer program. School-age children will meet after the party at 3 p.m. every Wednesday.
The summer reading program for this year is called “Make Waves.” Teens can read for prizes, take part in special events, play games on the library’s gaming consoles, make crafts and more. Teens meet at the library Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
All library programs are free and open to the public.

The Poinciana Leadership Cabinet has postponed the community visioning event, which was scheduled for July 15. The group will announce a new visioning session at a later date.
