New Kissimmee police officers hired
The Kissimmee Police Department had two new officers sworn in during the May 18 City Commission meeting.
With the addition of officers Brandin Suarez and Aziz Ghawi, the Kissimmee Police Department has a total of 124 sworn officers on staff, leaving five positions still available.
“It is always exciting to watch the new officers begin their careers with the Kissimmee Police Department,” Chief Fran Iwanski said. “We strive to hire the best candidates in the field in order to provide the unprecedented public service to our citizens.”
Officials said the department expect to be up to full staff in a few months.
“I am completing the background checks and final steps are being taken to fill those final positions,” department recruiter Kevin King said.
The new officers will be assigned to field training officers for 14 weeks. Upon completion of the training phase, the officers will be assigned to the Patrol Division and responsible for an area of the city.
