He’ll weight it out
To the editor:

Once again, somebody has proven that carrying a pistol around makes as much sense as keeping a king cobra as a live-in babysitter.

Nobody believes in the Second Amendment more than I. Gun ownership is the only deterrent to a government that wants to do bad things to you or even worse, knows what is good for you.

Every man should keep a gun at home or office or car to protect his family but putting it in your pocket only makes it easier for you to get into trouble. If you are walking around in a place where you might get mugged, like Washington, D.C., or any place within five miles east or west of I-4 at night, you deserve what happens to you.

When it’s dark, this old dude is in his house with his Ithaca 12 gauge within reach. I’m not out joining the nightly suicide races on John Young Parkway.

The first thing I learned when starting to practice old time Kissimmee law was the 24-hour rule.

If you are riding a motorcycle and have a pistol with you, or you are within the same county as a woman who has put your behind in the wind and you have a pistol and if you add a bottle of whiskey to the bike’s tank or yours, you will be in jail in 24 hours. A permit to carry a concealed weapon should come with a weight restriction. The gun must weigh at least 25 pounds.

Wheeler helped
To the editor:

Recently, we encountered a school problem with our kindergartener son at Reedy Creek Elementary School. After exhausting what we thought were all of the options to resolve this, a friend told me to contact Osceola County School Board member Jay Wheeler. He said that Jay is always willing to help families.

So I called and left Jay a voice mail. I really wasn’t sure if I’d get a return call or not. In less than two hours, Jay called me back and listened. He needed to know what I wanted for our child. He offered me a couple of options and said that he’d make a few phone calls and do what he could to help us out.

In the end, we met with all the right people and got my son what he needed. Jay Wheeler really went out of his way for our family and restored my faith that in Osceola County we have someone in authority who will drop everything to help families.

Based on my own experience as a mom, we are lucky to have Jay Wheeler on the Osceola County School Board and need to re-elect him in order for him to keep working for all of us.
