The quarterly membership luncheon of the St. Cloud Greater Osceola Chamber of Commerce meeting was May 13 at the American Legion Civic Hall facility, 1019 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Cloud.
The program was opened by Chairwoman Connie Benca, Osceola County Council on Aging, with an invocation by Wade Davis, Osceola County schools, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by County Commission Chairman Fred Hawkins Jr..
Membership Chair Traudi Rayzor, Rayzor’s Edge, introduced each of the Quarterly Award presenters:
Community Image Award: New Construction, presented by Chair-elect Karl Theobald, Theobald Construction, to Car Wash Express, 4670 13th St., St. Cloud.
Ambassador of the Quarter Award, presented by Past Chairman Kevin Rainey, Stantec Consulting to Yvette Vazquez, St. Cloud In The News.
Non-profit Organization Award, presented by Board Member and Past Chair Paula Stark, Osceola News-Gazette, to St. Thomas Medical Clinic.
Business of the Quarter Award, presented by Board Member Rebecca Brewer, St. Cloud Regional Medical Center, to Osceola County Farm Bureau Insurance, 1680 E. U.S. Highway 192, Kissimmee.
Volunteer of the Quarter Award presented by Board Member and Marketing Chairman Don Long, Top Yacht Brokerage, to John Emmons, John Emmons Tae Kwon Do, 1050 Aeronautical Drive, Kissimmee.
Luncheon speaker Terri L. Seefeldt, with Roger’s Benefits Group in Maitland, provided a sobering, factual understanding of the new Health Care Act, which she laid out by implementation and/or impact each year up to 2018.
She emphasized that many provisions are complex and not yet defined by the federal government so their impact cannot be fairly forecast. Many more are subject to the rules and regulations process at both the state and federal levels.
Some of the measures will be implemented this year; others not until 2014 and some not until 2018.
