Curious George Live!
ORLANDO — The little monkey appears in the live presentation Curious George Live! at the UCF Arena July 9-11. Tickets are on sale now for all five performances. Curious George stars in a brand new adventure on a mission to help Chef Pisghetti save his restaurant by winning a world-famous meatball competition. Porchdogs at Bok Tower
LAKE WALES – The Porchdogs will kick off Bok Tower Gardens’ ninth annual Live at the Gardens! Summer Music Series Saturday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the indoor concert with cabaret-style seating are $20 for the general public; members will receive a 10-percent discount. Morse Museum to reopen
WINTER PARK – The Morse Museum in Winter Park has revised the projected date for reopening its galleries to Tuesday. Because work on the exhibits and works of art will continue for about a month after the museum reopens to the public, the Morse will provide free admission from Tuesday through the July Fourth holiday weekend.
Hip printmaking
ORLANDO – The centuries old, yet still hip, art form of printmaking will showcase at the Orlando Museum of Art's 1st Thursdays event, "Printmakers Unite!" Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Select works by André Smith, founder of The Research Studio, now Maitland Art Center, will be on view. The event will include the contemporary and standard jazz sounds of Steve Moore & Moore Than Jazz and a relief printmaking demonstration by artist and curator Richard Colvin. Florida Artists Registry and Red Chair Project will be on hand with information about what's happening on the local art scene. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy Highland Manor's contemporary American cuisine, handcrafted beers from Shipyard and Seadog Brewing Co. and wine poured by Premier Beverage Co. Holocaust survivor to speak
ORLANDO – The Orange County Regional History Center offers a rare opportunity to hear from a survivor of the genocide committed by Nazi Germany during World War II. “Surviving the Holocaust: Morris Rosen,” will be Tuesday, June 8, from noon to 1 p.m. It is a free program featuring Rosen, whose personal experience in this historic tragedy is a powerful story told with the intimacy and authenticity of someone who lived through it. This program is part of the History Center’s Brown Bag Lunch & Learn series. Space is limited. Seating is first come, first served and advance reservations are strongly suggested. Extreme fighting
KISSIMMEE —The Silver Spurs Arena in association with Showtime MMA  presents the ultimate fighting sport of its kind, World Extreme Fighting, Saturday, July 10, at 8 p.m. There will be 12 bouts of "No Holds Barred" professional MMA action in the cage with championship fighters from WEF, UFC and Pride. Artist show
ST. CLOUD — The artist of the month at the New York Artist Shop is Robert Boynton. Boynton is an emerging Florida artist that is currently experiencing  success in "brick and mortar" galleries within Florida and North Carolina. His award-winning work is a combination of photography and painting. He came to Orlando in 1984 as a floral designer for Walt Disney World and retired after 22 years of service as a decorator. Yo Gabba Gabba
KISSIMMEE — DJ Lance Rock and the cast of  Yo Gabba Gabba will be at the Silver Spurs Arena Oct. 29 for a show at 7 p.m. All of the characters will be there and joining them will be hip-hop legend Biz Markie to teach kids how to beat box with "Biz’s Beat of the Day." WALT DISNEY WORLD  — Thousands of Transformers fans and collectors will be coming to the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Convention Center  June 25-27 for the  16th annual BotCon, the official Transformers convention. This year’s convention will feature special guests, including creators and artists from the animated series and comic books, as well as the Hasbro Transformers design team. The Transformers Hall of Fame also will be announced with the inaugural class of humans and robots inducted. Taste of the Nation
ORLANDO —The 21st Annual Taste of the Nation Orlando returns to the Orlando World Center Marriott Saturday, June 5. All ticket sales help ensure no children in America grow up hungry. Ticket options include VIP tickets, which features early admittance at 6 p.m., a champagne reception and a Taste 2010 gift bag. Harvest festival
CLERMONT — Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards will host the 20th Annual Harvest Festival June 18-20. The three-day outdoor event will feature live jazz, an arts and crafts show, grape stomping and award-winning Lakeridge Wines. The event will be Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A $2 donation will be accepted at the gate to benefit the Hospice Foundation. A special Blessing of the Harvest will take place each day at 1:30 p.m. Complimentary winery tours and wine tasting will be held throughout the festival. POLK CITY — Fantasy of Flight will celebrate National Military Month in May with free admission to all U.S. active-duty, retired and reserve military during the month. Kids Cooking Class
ORLANDO — Three Disney World Levy Restaurants will hold Schools Out for Summer Kids Cooking Class June 12. Participating restaurants are Portobello, Fulton’s Crab House and Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe. The class is designed for the aspiring master chef or just a day of fun in the kitchen. The class is 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the cost is $36 per child. The class varies at each restaurant including make-your-own-pizza, sushi chicken finger role, homemade chocolate chip cookies and more. Children will be learning from the executive chef from each restaurant.  All participants will receive a chef hat, apron, pictures and recipes to take home and try on their own. Barrel horse finals
KISSIMMEE — The largest barrel race in the nation will move into its weekend home during the National Barrel Horse Associations  State Finals June 10-13 at the Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park. More than a thousand competitors will be participating. In addition to the racing, more than 50 vendors will be selling everything from Western furniture to clothing, jewelry and more. The event  is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and admission is free. The National Barrel Horse Association, headquartered in Augusta, Ga., is the largest barrel racing organization in the world.

WINTER PARK — This summer the Morse Museum invites families to learn more about the life and art of American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany through two free programs designed especially for elementary-school-age children. Although most famous for his leaded-glass windows and lamps, Tiffany also designed art glass, pottery, enamelware, jewelry, and whole interiors. It’s all on view at the Morse. Beginning in June, on eight select Tuesdays (June 15, 22, and 29; July 6, 13, 20 and 27; and August 3) families can enjoy a 45-minute guided museum tour and take home an art activity related to the Morse’s extensive collection of works by Tiffany.  On four Fridays (June 25, July 9, July 23, and August 6) participants will see a short film, produce a work of art and visit the Tiffany exhibits as well as other galleries. Space is limited for the free programs.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A $5 refundable deposit per child is requested when securing a reservation for the family film. Summer camps
ORLANDO —The Orlando Science Center’s summer camp program is back with a new roster for children that includes hands-on exploration in science and nature, space and astronomy, archeology, math, computers, robotics, and even cooking. Camps are offered June 14 to August 20. There also are science academies for teens in grades 7-9  Lockheed Martin also is presenting two new academies for this summer, including the “Ultimate SIM Quest.” This weeklong experience takes the educational investigation to the next level with hands-on exploration into the world of simulation. The academy wraps up with a field trip to Lockheed Martin’s Global Vision Solution Center. Lockheed’s other academy is focused on engineering with teens designing, building and testing their own creations. It concludes with a field trip to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control where students will see how complex systems are tested while interacting with the engineers that designed them.
All camp activities are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. five days a week from June 12 to August 20. For all camps, early drop-off and late pick-up are included in the registration fees.

New paintings
DAYTONA  BEACH — The Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, will present “Reis’ Pieces: The Paintings of Tom Reis,” from May 21 through Aug. 1. Tom Reis is a nationally known illustrator whose art has appeared with stories in Time, Rolling Stone, the Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, Business Week, and Smart Money. His paintings are represented in numerous permanent and private collections throughout the United States. Reis is a graduate of Stetson University and earned his master’s degree in Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1993.
Silver Spurs Rodeo
KISSIMMEE — Tickets are now available for the 125th  Silver Spurs Rodeo, June 5-6 at the Silver Spurs Arena. Tickets are $15 per person, children 10 and under are free. WALT DISNEY WORLD — The power of the Force and the magic of Disney combine for Star Wars Weekends, the annual sci-fi fan-fest at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 21 to June 13. Meet-and-greets, Star Wars parades, autograph sessions, Jedi Training Academy and more are included as part of the regular admission.
Reefer Madness
ORLANDO — A play version of the 1936 cult film comes to the Orlando Fringe Festival on select days May 21-30. There will be free brownies at all performances. Tickets are $10. The show will take place at 812 E. Rollins Ave. For more information on the Fringe Festival go to orlandofringe.org.

KISSIMMEE — The Grand Hotels of Kissimmee is the current exhibit at the Osceola County Historical Society. The exhibit of photos, artifacts and text, which show Kissimmee as it was in the 1880s, is on display through May 30. For museum hours and directions, call 407-396-8644. Art summer camp
KISSIMMEE —The Osceola Center for the Arts is accepting registration for their youth summer camps.  Camps run from Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in 2-week sessions and are for children ages 7-14.  The cost is $200 per session.
and the camp dates are as follows:
Session I  Theatre,  June 14 - 25.
Session II  Visual Arts, July 5 - 16.
Session III  Theatre, July 19 - 30.
Session IV  Visual Arts, August 2 - 13.
During the theatre sessions, campers will study the art of “acting”, learn technique and theatre terminology, and study voice and projection. They will also learn how to prepare for an audition as well as dance and sing.  The theatre session ends with a live performance on-stage on the final day of camp.
During the Visual Arts sessions, campers will be drawing, painting, learning photography and pottery.  All levels of artistic ability will benefit from this session, from the beginner to the advanced student. The visual arts session ends with a reception and an exhibit of student artwork.

LAKE WALES —The city hosts the annual Municipal Fine Arts Show through June 30 at the municipal building on Central Avenue. The event gives area artists a chance to show their work and compete for ribbon prizes in several categories along with a Best of Show award. Many of the pieces on exhibit are for sale by the artists at reasonable prices. ORLANDO — The 2007 Tony Award winning musical comes to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, May 18-23 with evening shows at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees and a Sunday evening performance at 6:30 p.m. The show was called the best musical of the year by the NY Drama Critics Circle. The show is set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany and tells the story of teenage self-discovery as seen through the eyes of three teens.
