Congressman Bill Posey, R-Rockledge, talks to students, parents and educators Saturday at the Osceola Center for the Arts before announcing the winners of the 2010 Congressional Art Competition. Out of more than 80 submissions from high school students in the 15th Congressional District, students from the Osceola School for the Arts won the top two awards.

The winning artwork from the district will be hung along the tunnel that members of congress travel to get into and out of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The top winner was Mariana Silva and the second-place winner was Federico Landaeta, whose work will be hung at Posey's offices in Florida.

Posey, left, and Center  for the Arts Director of Visual Arts Jules Davidson awarded the blue ribbon in the Congressiional art contest to Osceola School for the Arts student Mariana Silva for her painting titled “Secrets." Patricia Calderon, teacher of the winning student, accepted the award on Silva's behalf.
