A 19-year-old Kissimmee resident was killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 192 Tuesday night when the Ford Focus he was riding in veered off the road and flipped several times.

Jonathan Maestry was declared dead at the scene where the car crashed, on the north shoulder of the road west of Deer Park Road, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported. The car veered left, struck the concrete curb of the median, causing the driver to overcompensate to the right and flipping the car several times.

Neither Maestry nor the driver, 22-year-old Kissimmee resident Mercedes Abreu, who suffered serious injuries, were wearing their seat belts. Both were ejected from the car as it rolled.

The car came to a rest on its left side. A second passenger, 20-year-old Chermile Valdez of Kissimmee, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with charges pending.
