Four Celebration High wrestlers will be busy this summer after qualifying for spots on the Florida National travel team that will compete at the Asics Cadet and Junior Duals in Iowa and also at the Cadet/Junior Greco and Freestyle national championships at Fargo, N.D.
Sophomore J.J. Francis (152 pounds, Cadet division) won the freestyle championship at the qualifier, held at Poinciana High last weekend, and he finished third in Greco-Roman.
Brandon Guerrero (215, Cadet) was second in freestyle and third in Greco-Roman. Cameron Ward (215, Junior) and Alvaro Norena (285, Junior) also qualified.
“J.J. had one exciting match after another,” Celebration Coach Vic Lorenzano said. “The Winter Springs wrestler, who lost to J.J. in Greco earlier, injury-defaulted in the freestyle final. J.J. went 5-0 in freestyle and won the national team qualifier championship.”
