Six middle school athletes from Osceola County qualified for the state middle school track championship Saturday at Holy Trinity Academy.
The athletes, members of the St. Cloud Raptors Track Club coached by Jason Luquis, qualified by winning their events at the regional meet April 24 at Holy Trinity, or by achieving a qualifying time.
Qualifiers are: Octavia Gonzalez (5:33), second at 1,500 meters; Sheilby Macena (28-3), first in the triple jump; Daisha Davis (26-7), second in the triple jump; Shawnte Forbes (24-10), third in the triple jump and  Octavia Gonzalez (24-9), fourth in the triple jump.
Also qualifying was the champion 4 x 800  relay (11:25)  of Macena, Chantelle Jamieson, Kierra Crane and Gonzalez.
Gonzalez ran 5:22 in the 1,500 and 2:31 in the 800 at the Altamonte Striders Invitational last weekend and will challenge Daesha Rogers of the Metro-Dade Track Club at the state meet. Rogers is the age group champion at 400, 800 and 1,500 meters.
