Kissimmee police are still searching for an armed man who assaulted a postal carrier in the Pinewood Park apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

About 1 p.m., the suspect snuck up behind a U.S. Postal Service carrier as he was about to place mail in the apartment's mail boxes on the south side of the complex, police reported. As he leaned into the mail truck, he felt a poke in his back and heard someone say, “Give me your wallet.”  At a second poke, the postal carrier turned around and was startled to see a man holding a gun.

The postal employee slapped at the gun, but the suspect began to hit him with the gun.

Though a K-9 unit and helicopter aided in the search for the suspect, he was not found. The victim, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment, described his assailant as a dark-skinned, thin male, about 30 years old and 6 feet tall with a “scruffy” beard and wearing a dark T-shirt, dark blue pants and possibly a skull cap.  He was armed with a silver handgun.
