BRYAN HAZLEY

Hazley

Bryan Hazley, 20, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a deadly weapon in the death of 27-year-old Secil Brown, was sentenced to 25 years behind bars Thursday afternoon.

Brown was shot near Tarpon Street in Kissimmee the night of Dec. 16. Kissimmee police found him bleeding heavily from a wound in his chest. He was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after.

Several witnesses in the area named Hazley as the shooter. His mother said he was acting in self-defense when Brown came after him.

Hazley accepted a plea agreement Tuesday, pleading guilty to manslaughter in Brown's death. Judge Jon Morgan sentenced Hazley at the Osceola County Courthouse Thursday. Morgan denied Hazley bond at the beginning of his case, citing his extensive violent history.

Brown was the youngest son of a longtime Kissimmee resident who was the recipient of a Habitat for Humanity house last year.
