The Osceola County 4-H program is looking for adult volunteers to work with local youth interested in exploring the world of butterflies.
“Volunteers are the heart of 4-H,” said Karen Henry, Extension faculty who oversees the 4-H program in Osceola County. “Our volunteers help youth connect with their local community and build our young people’s life skills and self-worth.”
4-H Butterfly WINGS is a new 4-H project teaching youth how to be citizen scientists by learning about butterflies and the natural environment.  Activities are hands-on, engaging and fun.  Youth discover how to identify and attract butterflies and investigate the outdoors.
Volunteers attending the training will be provided a teacher handbook, youth project books and a Butterfly Field Guide.
Trainings take place at the Buenaventura Lakes (BVL) Community Center May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch provided) and at the BVL Library May 15, 1 to 5 p.m. or May 20 from  6 to 8 p.m. (two part) (dinner provided).
Adult volunteers will have the opportunity to lead youth clubs, teach about butterflies and encourage outdoor exploration through the Osceola County 4-H program.
Registration is required.
Interested volunteers may register by contacting Karen Henry at 321-697-3033.
