The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has identified 56-year-old Carl Dykes Jr. as the resident at 740 Country Woods Circle who shot at a deputy last week.

Deputies arrived at Dykes' address early on the morning of Thursday, April 15, after receiving an anonymous tip about possible drug activity at the home. One deputy approached the door and knocked several times. A man inside the house, now identified as Dykes, opened the door and fired a shot at the uniformed deputy.

Two deputies, the second one near the driveway, returned fire. Dykes was injured and transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Neither of the deputies was injured, but they were put on paid leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Sheriff's Office investigated the shooting, as is standard procedure.

The investigation information has been forwarded to the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office. As of yet, no one has been arrested.
