Major meltdown
To the editor:
After reading the article in the News-Gazette this morning concerning the Puerto Rican who had an obvious meltdown over a conversation that didn’t go his way, I had to write.
The situation started out as truly laughable until the last paragraph, when it became very disturbing to say the least. To say something as cold-hearted and cruel would make me also believe this man could be extremely dangerous. His obvious hatred of authority, lack of any sympathy or empathy is frightening.
I will not mention his name due to the fact I refuse to acknowledge someone who obviously seeks attention. If he doesn’t like the way things are done here or he doesn’t respect the law or the officers who protect him on a daily basis, then he is more than welcome to go back to Puerto Rico, where they must do it better. We never asked this man to come here and we never told him he couldn’t; he took it upon himself to make a spectacle of himself and a fool, at best.
I could take his way of thinking and start calling all of the Puerto Rican businesses and ask for everything in English, and that includes employees who speak our language. I could pull out a soapbox concerning the many Spanish billboards and take that as discrimination. To those who only speak English, obviously our business is not wanted in your establishment. I could boycott the grocery stores and restaurants that only seem to cater to Hispanics. Where are the English menus, where is the English signage? (I haven’t seen Armando Ramirez complain about the fairness of Spanish-only businesses in Kissimmee).
It’s interesting how those making all the noise only see it one way. I speak English and only English. I will not, and should not, have to learn another language to live in this country, or in Kissimmee.
If this isn’t good enough for you, any of you, then leave. You will not make or break this town. It survived before you came and it will thrive if you leave.
In the meantime, Mr. Meltdown man, seek help, and I certainly wouldn’t want to be near you when, as you put it, “they must have done something during their career to deserve what happened to them.” If that is truly your belief along with your hatred and anger, I would recommend all stay clear of you.
What this man stated was so horrible and so awful, I truly wish it had never been mentioned in the paper. Those of us who remember that day, it was a tragedy and will always be remembered as such.
And to Joanie’s Restaurant – they still have the best hamburgers in town.

Loud music still a problem
To the editor:
Loud music coming from the Rancho Latino Cuchifrito Restaurant, at 4000 S. Orange Blossom Trail, has been a major concern for over two years.
The music has blared out over the weekend to the great inconvenience of local residents. This is a serious problem especially for the residents of Good Samaritan Village, which is located across the trail from the restaurant. These residents are elderly and many have serious physical conditions that require a good, restful sleep.
Area residents have complained to local government authorities, and they have acted on these complaints and fined the restaurant on several occasions for violation of local codes concerning noise.
Unfortunately, the fines of $500 per incident have not deterred the Rancho management from continuing the abusive noise practice. Apparently the fine is not large enough that it can’t be overcome by the profits achieved by the restaurant from continuing this flagrant violation of local noise codes.
Something needs to be done differently to restore the living environment of the neighborhood around the restaurant. Perhaps a fine of $1,500 per incident ought to be established by our government leaders. Or perhaps the restaurant ought to be closed down permanently because Rancho management has established a reputation for continuing to ignore the police and civil authorities.
