An 84-year-old driver with a car full of passengers in their 80s lost control as he was backing out of a driveway and crashed into a Buenaventura Lakes house early Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Husarek, of South Daytona, was backing out of a private driveway on Bayberry Court when he somehow lost control, troopers said. The four-door Mercedes-Benz he was driving shot south off the road, the rear of it crashing into the house at 704 Bayberry Court.

The passengers – Dorothy Maier, 87, of Kissimmee, Gordon Maier, 84, of Kissimmee, Alice Fenton, 86, of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Betty Husarek, 87, of South Daytona – were uninjured in the crash.

Robert Husarek, also uninjured, was charged with improper backing.
