In October 2007, the AdvancED Accreditation Commission and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) awarded the Osceola County School District districtwide accreditation as a quality school system.
In a two-year follow-up this past January, the commission reviewed and took action on the Accreditation Progress Report recently filed by the district. The commission accepted the report and granted continuation of the accreditation term with no findings or additional recommendations. In its notification, the commission praised the district for its continued commitment to excellence in education and its dedication to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
“This accreditation assures our parents, the business community and the public that the Osceola School District is committed to and been effective in raising student achievement, in providing a safe and enriching learning environment for our students and in maintaining an efficient and effective operation,” Superintendent Michael A. Grego said. “District Accreditation recognizes and validates the improvement efforts of our schools, the district and the support we continue to receive from our community.”
District Accreditation by SACS CASI is a powerful systems’ approach that reflects the “next generation” of accreditation. It gives school districts the flexibility and responsibility to identify and implement their desired process of continuous im-provement focusing on in-creasing student performance. It is a process that examines how all the processes and functions of a district work in concert to the benefit of student learning.
