Osceola Heritage Park has announced a new partnership between the Osceola County School District and Gateway High School’s SCORE program. The SCORE program provides supervised unpaid work experiences to high school students.  In addition, the on-the job training allows the students to earn high school credit while learning and experiencing the various types of careers that businesses have to offer. Currently, the SCORE Program has eight students who work one to two hours each day at OHP.  Throughout the semester students learn a variety of job skills, develop good work habits and gain self confidence.  The program will run until the end of May and resume in August at a different location.
SCORE has provided supervised unpaid work experience in a variety of local businesses since 1988.  In 1991, on the job training was added to allow students to earn high school credit.  SCORE teachers based at each high school recruit students, monitor their progress and provide instruction and support according to the students needs.
