Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 26-year-old man for the burglary of two short-term rental homes in west Osceola County Wednesday.

James Coote, of Poinciana, is charged with two counts each of occupied burglary and grand theft after deputies were able to identify him as the suspect. They found him in the 4000 block of W. U.S. Highway 192.

The residents at 8123 Fan Palm Way made the first call for help. Deputies who arrived on scene at 1:17 p.m. Wednesday were told the residents awoke when the house alarm went off. Deputies discovered the rear patio door had been forced open. The victims were missing several personal items.

Residents at 2551 Oneida Loop, in the same neighborhood, also made a report of a burglary. They told deputies that they were sleeping but when they woke they noticed several electronic items missing. There was no forced entry and deputies said it appeared as if the sliding glass door was left unlocked.

Coote was brought in for questioning and cooperated with investigators. He was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
