Former Osceola High offensive coordinator Doug Nichols has accepted the Kowboys head football coaching position, OHS Athletic Director Jim Bird said Monday.

Nichols, Liberty's head football coach for the past three years, guided the Kowboys offense for a decade under former coach Jim Scible and called the plays when OHS won the 1998 state championship.

Liberty was 15-16 under Nichols, who founded the program. The Chargers were 8-3 last season and defeated Mount Dora in the Scholarship Bowl.

Nichols replaces Jeff Rolson, who resigned after four seasons to take the job at Springfield Rutherford High.
