A local news anchor was arrested for impersonating a law enforcement officer during what the victim described as a road rage incident on State Road 417, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office reported.

Victor Juan Martinez, an anchor for Central Florida News 13 en Español, was arrested after the victim identified him as the driver that followed him home and partially blocked him in his driveway Feb. 15. Martinez, 33, reportedly showed the victim a billfold that had a badge, possibly credentials given to him as a volunteer with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and said he was a police officer.

Deputies began investigating the incident when they responded to 504 Lost Creek Court in Buenaventura Lakes and spoke with the victim. After being blocked in his driveway, he said he asked the driver why he had followed him to his residence. Martinez didn't answer but reached into his jacket. The victim thought he might have a weapon and, because of his young son was still in the car, the victim noted the driver's license plate number and said he was calling 911.

Martinez then walked toward the victim and said he was a police officer, knew where the victim lived and had his license plate number. He showed him the credentials with the sheriff's office star before getting into his vehicle and speeding away.

The victim gave the partial license number he remembered to detectives, who identified Martinez as a suspect. The victim picked Martinez out in a photo lineup.

Martinez denied the incident ever happened, telling deputies that he could not have been involved because he was working as a news anchor that day. Aside from volunteering with Orange County Sheriff's Office, Martinez said he currently volunteers with Orlando's police department.

Martinez, of 3203 Large Oak Court, Kissimmee, was arrested and booked into Osceola County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
