The Osceola County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that Michael Rigby escaped by dislodging a toilet/sink combination from the back wall of his cell. The opening led the piping and plumbing utilized by each cell. From there, he reached the secured roll-up doors, which led to the yard.

Investigators have not determined how he got past two fences to get off jail property. His uniform was found near the exterior of the fence.

The plumbing for the jail cells are on the outside wall to allow maintenance crews to access it without entering the facility.

One other person shared the cell with Rigby.
