SalazarA registered sexual offender was arrested Tuesday for the attempted murder and armed sexual battery of a 60-year-old woman in the Lakeside subdivision.

The victim told Kissimmee police officers, who responded to the call at around 8 p.m., that she got into a fight with 40-year-old Gregory Salazar during which Salazar raped and threatened to kill her.

He swung a knife at the woman in an attempt to stab her. She was able to block the knife with her arm and escape.

Officers found out that Salazar took a cab to a house in Orlando. The Orange County Sheriff's Office took him into custody. After interviewing him, Kissimmee detectives charged him with armed sexual battery and attempted murder. He was booked into the Orange County Jail.

The victim's attempt to block the knife caused non-life threatening injuries, police said.
