A 67-year-old St. Cloud man died after he suddenly became medically incapacitated while driving on West U.S. Highway 192 Friday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

William Richard Armes was driving a Dodge pickup truck west on the highway, near the intersection of Old Vineland Road, when he had a medical event. His front passenger, Lillian Lomba, 22, also of St. Cloud, steered the truck toward a retention pond at the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver's side rearview mirror struck a guy wire holding up an electricity pole as the truck drove into the retention pond.

Armes was taken to the Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he died. Lomba was uninjured in the crash.
