Next week at this time, there is a good chance you will be getting more than your fill of candy apples, hot dogs and funnel cake.
And that is just the eating part of 10 days of fun at the Osceola County Fair.

The 66th annual fair kicks off Friday, Feb. 12, and continues through Sunday Feb.  21. Fair entertainment for 2010 includes the Great American Petting Zoo, with llamas, deer, goats, pigs, chickens and more; high-flying Frisbee-catching dogs and an elephant and tiger encounter.

Musical highlight for this year's fair is country music entertainer/singer and songwriter DeWayne Spaw. Spaw's songs have been heard on TNN and CMT. He will perform Saturday, Feb. 13, at noon and 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 and 5 p.m. The show is included with admission to the fair.

Other fair entertainment highlights include:
GASCAR — Yes, just like the name implies, GASCAR is the animal equivalent of auto racing. Goats, sheep, chickens, pigs and more compete, as they hoof and waddle their way around the tracks. Scheduled races are at 8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and twice daily at 2 and 6 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Pirates of the Caribbean — An aerial high-wire show with lights, music, colorful costumes and pyrotechnics. Shows are held daily and multiple times on weekends.

Farmyard Follies — The follies is an adventure in animal behavior, accompanied by facts and stories about each type of featured animal. Shows are Monday-Thursday at 6 p.m. and 2 and 6 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Interactive video games — a huge tent filled with favorite video games and it is all included with the fair admission. There also will be daily Guitar Hero contests in the tent.

Agricadabra — A new show that encourages healthy eating through agriculture. The show is held numerous times daily throughout the event.

Elephant and Tiger Encounter — Dumbo the elephant and Daruba the tiger are the stars of this attraction, held daily. Elephant shows and tiger shows are held separately each day.

Disc-Connected — a canine show with Frisbee dogs. The show is held at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; Friday shows are 3:30, 5:30 and 7 p.m.: Saturday shows are 1:30, 3:30, 5:30 and 7 p.m. and Sunday shows are 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

Brian Ruth, Masters of the Chainsaw — This popular show features Brian Ruth, who has won national and international chainsaw carving competitions during his 30 years of wood-carving. Shows are held daily.

The fair also includes more than 80 rides in the midway, a kiddieland ride area and games.
Special events include the Garden/Antique Tractor Pull and Children’s Pet Show on Saturday,  Feb. 13, and the Draft Horse Pull and Baby Show on Sunday,  Feb. 14.  The Village Inn’s annual Pie Eating Contest is Saturday, Feb.  20.  

The fair opens at noon Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at 5 p.m., Monday-Thursday.
Admission to the fair  is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 5-11, children 4 and under are free.  Parking is free.  Unlimited ride armband specials are available everyday.  Call 321-697-3050 for information or visit www.OsceolaCountyFair.com.
