Parkway Middle School will offer an International Studies curriculum as one option in the 2010-11 school year.
Parkway is applying to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP), which would if authorized feed into Gateway or Celebration high schools’ IB Programs.
The MYP offers a specialized, enhanced curriculum to develop the individual talents of students through intellectual rigor and high academic standards with an emphasis on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship. Parents/ guardians with children currently in grade 5 have the opportunity to choose this school for their children to attend instead of their home-zoned school for next school year.
Informational meeting dates:
• Thursday, Feb. 4, at Neptune Middle School, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 11, at Horizon Middle School, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Monday, Feb. 22, at Parkway Middle School, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 25, at Thacker Avenue Elementary for International Studies, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Student admission will be based on academic application as there are a limited number of seats for eligible students in the International Studies Program. Students currently attending Parkway will not be displaced from the school.
For additional information, call Parkway Middle School at 407-344-7000.
