Henry Morris III, 37, of Davenport, was driving south on Canoe Creek Road. At around 10:13 a.m., a Ford van in front of him, driven by 26-year-old Crystal Stephens, of St. Cloud, slowed down to turn onto Mildred Bass Road. For unknown reasons, Morris failed to see the van slow down until the last moment and then tried to brake and turn to the left to avoid hitting the van, troopers said.

The semi hit the van anyway as it jackknifed off the road and overturned in the southeast corner of the intersection. The van was pushed off the road in the same direction, hitting a tree.

Morris, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Stephens was uninjured. No charges were filed in the crash.
