The field of 64 individuals named as School-Related Employee of the Year for their school or department, in honor of excellence in their profession, has been narrowed down to the top five finalists for the Osceola County School District.
The name of one of these individuals will be revealed as Osceola County's 2011 School-Related Employee of the Year at a ceremony hosted by the Education Foundation-Osceola County on Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.
The following employees have been named as finalists:
Betty Brown, secretary in the maintenance department; Lorena C. Bruneau, bookkeeper at Horizon Middle; Deborah Davis, bookkeeper at Hickory Tree Elementary; Marion Emilien, office assistant at Highlands Elementary; and Kimberly Frederick, social worker at Neptune Middle.
A panel of judges selected the finalists based on their applications, which outlined their involvement at the school/department and community level, leadership skills, continuing education and letters of recommendation.
Finalists were surprised at their work locations by Deputy Superintendent Beverly Carbaugh with a rose bouquet, donated by Golden Carriage Florist in Kissimmee, to announce their finalist standing.
