One of the most successful groups of athletes in the school’s history will be honored Friday at 7 p.m. when the Osceola Kowboys wrestling team holds Senior Night against St. Cloud.
Among the seniors who will compete for the last time at the OHS gym are defending state champions Levi Clemons and Joe Locksmith, and four-time state qualifier Gabriel Bird.
The Kowboys (261) won the Michael Hutchins Invitational at Bishop Moore last week. Harmony (151) placed second.
Clemons (189), Bird (152), Locksmith (140) along with teammates E.J. Jiminez (112), Tim Locksmith (119), Pete Baldwin (145) and Reggie Turner (285) won individual titles.
Tim Locksmith, who pinned all of his opponents, or won by technical fall, was the meet’s Outstanding Wrestler.
Alex Rivera (125), Wade Ridings (135) and Chris Pagan (171) reached the finals. Trevor Darnell (160) and R.J. Butler (215) placed fourth.
St. Cloud seniors also will be honored at OHS Friday. Bulldog senior Frank Cousins (160/171) is the defending Class 2A state champion.
Former OHS wrestler Javier Maldonado, a two-time state champion and an All-American at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, will have his number retired prior to the OHS-St. Cloud match.
Harmony edged Liberty, 37-33, in a dual meet Tuesday. The Horns lifted their record to 24-7. Liberty slipped to 23-8.
