The Poinciana Lady Eagles placed second (113) behind Cypress Creek (261) at the girls state weightlifting meet Saturday.
Osceola (76), a four-time state champion, was fifth.
Leading Poinciana was 145-pound runner-up Solmaris Melo.
Angela Chaparro (215) was third.
Nikita Forbes (130) and Whitnee Raeburn (189) placed fourth, while fifth-place wrestlers were Laura Rivera (140), Quinn Monplaisir (152), Tracy Miranda (160) and Karla Freitas (171).
Coach Bruna Foster saluted his wrestlers: “These ladies worked hard to get to this point with all that they have to endure as a non-sanctioned sport. I and my staff are proud of them and will continue to support these ladies and this sport.”
Osceola’s Nivanny Martinez (125) and Yaidelice Martinez (140) were third. Placing fifth were Tobie Jones (103), Julie Salvatore (130) and Yaniera Zano (160).
