Osceola County’s unemployment figures for December posted a slight drop, to 13.3 percent, according to state figures released Friday.

It was a slight drop from November’s 13.4 percent revised jobless rate.

Despite the decrease, Osceola County’s unemployment levels remain Central Florida’s highest, with the largest amount of unemployment claims.

In December 2008, the county had an 8.7 percent unemployment rate.

This December, Florida’s overall jobless rate increased to 11.8 percent, compared to the 11.5 percent it posted in November.

The state’s current unemployment rate is higher than the national unemployment rate of 10 percent.

However, unemployment levels in the Orlando Metro region comprised of Orange, Osceola, Lake and Sumter counties managed to remain steady in December, at 11.9 percent.

In December, Central Florida saw 671 fewer unemployment claims made than in November.

The Orlando Metro region lost 39,700 jobs in December, compared to 44,000 jobs the previous month.
