Addressing statements
To the editor:
Thank you for the article by Jessica Solis that appeared on the front page Thursday.
As a longtime volunteer and member of the board of directors as secretary and past chairman, I feel a few inconsistencies and a couple of outright misstatements should be addressed.
The newly formed 192 Business Alliance makes no bones about wanting Veterans Tribute and Museum to relocate close to or at Old Town.
I feel Mr. Brost is a good man, being nudged in the wrong direction with poor information and advice.
His statement, “The Osceola County vets museum has been at the Osceola Square Mall a long time, and they don’t get a lot of people,” is very suspect. At least get the name right.
Point: In 2005, Veterans Tribute and Museum once occupied the very same unit that Fun Spot Jr. is now in, at the front of Osceola Square Mall, where we attracted over 11,000 visitors. We are not and have never been located alongside Fun Spot Jr. In our previous location, Fun Spot Jr. was in the very front of the mall, the museum in the back section.
In the location we are in now, we are in the east corridor; Fun Spot Jr. is still in front.
The Veterans Tribute and Museum’s attendance records are a matter of public record in papers filed with the Tourist Development Council and substantiated by our original sign-in comment sheets. Mr. Brost’s statement above is without merit.
Veterans Tribute maintains sign-in sheets of our visitors. As with most all Osceola County, our visitor count has taken a hit, but, it should be noted, the museum hosted more than 6,000 visitors, and accommodated members of three national reunions and four conventions/conferences, with many thousands more visitors with our portable displays.

Rubio a threat
To the editor:
Much has been made of the race between Gov. Charlie Crist and U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio.
Rubio is a threat to all the gains Puerto Ricans have earned from hard work and perseverance. When he was Speaker of the House, he stripped John Quiñones of all his committee chairmanships, thereby silencing the only Puerto Rican voice in Republican politics at the state level.
He did this in retaliation for John being asked to speak at the Republican convention and for John’s work in trying to help Hispanic fern growers and harvesters. Rubio considers Puerto Ricans fit only to work in cigar factories run by Cubans as long as they don’t unionize.
I know that most Puerto Rican voters skip primaries; however, if you want to be ridden rough shod by an arrogant enemy of your blood, stay home this election.
