Osceola County’s Professional and Technical High School (PATHS) will host an informational showcase for students and parents interested in attending the school for the 2010-11 school year Saturday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon in the cafeteria, located on the TECO campus at 501 Simpson Road in Kissimmee.
Any interested middle or high school student in Osceola County and their parents/
guardians are encouraged to attend to hear about courses offered, career education training, entrance requirements and more. TECO/PATHS instructors also will be available in their classrooms for parent/ student inquires.
PATHS, which serves students in grades 9-12, offers full academic studies with specialization in numerous career academies: Business technology, industrial, public services, health science and information technology. High school students who attend the school have the opportunity to learn skills and techniques that could carry them into a successful career in a high-end, high-wage job. The school offers a two-track program providing 30 credits to graduate and certifications in a technical career, better known as workforce development.
For several years in a row, PATHS has earned recognition in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools ranking, recognizing the school’s ability to serve all of its students well, using state proficiency standards as the measuring benchmarks, and the high degree to which the school prepares students for school-to-work or college-level preparation. In addition, PATHS has received an “A” grade from the state of Florida’s A+ Accountability Program since its inception in 2003.
Applications are available
on the school Web site at http://teco.osceola.k12.fl.us/asps/indexpaths.asp, and will be available at the showcase Feb. 6. All students planning to attend the school must meet certain requirements. Those with questions about the school, its admission criteria and entrance testing are encouraged to call the school at 407-518-5407.
