Local residents will have the opportunity to receive a dose of the H1N1 swine flu vaccine this week.

The Osceola County Health Department is holding its fourth vaccine clinic Saturday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the main offices for the Osceola County Council on Aging, 700 Generation Point, Kissimmee.

The clinic is open to anyone wanting to receive the vaccine, which will be available at no cost. The department previously held clinics for priority groups and students attending county schools.

Children 10 and under who received their first dose of the vaccine are encouraged to receive their second dosage, provided they received the first dose at least 28 days prior.

No appointments are needed and residents will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Long lines with the chance of running of out vaccine doses is not expected, Health Department spokeswoman Camille Bissainthe said.

“We’re confident we’ll have more than enough vaccines for the people that need it,” Bissainthe said.

After the county’s clinic, the vaccine will be available at no cost at the department’s immunization offices.
