ATHERTON - Mr. Kenneth C. Atherton, 74, of 2627 North Beaumont Avenue, Kissimmee, passed away Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 while in the company of family members at his home. He was the husband of Rosalee W. (Wallin) Atherton, to whom he was married over 51 years.
Kenneth was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 24, 1934, the son of the late William H. and Ruby Florence (Wooten) Atherton.  He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War.  He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal and China Service Medal, while serving on the USS Hamner. 
After his military service, Kenny worked for the United States Postal Service starting in 1956 and was recognized for outstanding performance from the Kissimmee, FL Post Office.  With over 31 years of service, Kenny was cited for his professionalism and courteousness resulting in customer satisfaction and respect.  He earned the USPS 25 Year Industrial Safety Award and had accumulated 2,500 hours of unused sick leave during his career.  A member of Makinson-Carson Post 10, American Legion; life member of V.F.W. #4225; member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4048; and a member of  Osceola County Veterans Council and Honor Guard who named him "Outstanding Veteran of the Year 2004".
Kenneth is survived by daughter Susan, wife of Mike DePeal of Orlando, FL; sister Lois, wife of John Gimbel of Indianapolis, IN; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and his faithful dog Sage.
Visitation in memory of Kenneth will start at 1:00 PM  Saturday, January 24th at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Kissimmee, where a Celebration of Life Service is also scheduled for 2:00 PM, with Full Military Honors provided by the Osceola County Veterans Council.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation Orange/Osceola, 108 America Street Orlando, FL 32801-9951.

CASSIDY - Mary C. Cassidy, 80 of Kissimmee passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2009.
Mrs. Cassidy was born August 16, 1928 in Briery Branch, VA. She was a longtime resident of Osceola County and retired from Mercury Marine in St. Cloud.
She is survived by her loving family; sons Danny of Kissimmee and Larry (Penny) of St. Cloud; daughter, Barbara Cassidy of Lady Lake; grandsons Brandon and Justin and many nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday January 16th at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dick Mangham officiating interment will follow in Mt. Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday January 15th from 4:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.

CHEN - William Tung-Yung Chen passed away peacefully on December 26, 2008 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by his daughters.
William was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Josephine, who passed away in March 2008.
William was born on December 20, 1924 in Canton, China, one of six children. After graduating from high school in China and serving in the Nationalist Army, Bill immigrated to the U.S. with his sister, brother and mother. He graduated from Manchester College and moved to Washington DC to work as a Chemist at the National Bureau of Standards. He met and married Josephine Chung in 1955 and had three daughters, Nina, Joanna and Stacey. In 1971, the family moved to Kissimmee where the Chens operated several restaurants. They moved to Fort Myers, FL in 2004.
Bill is survived by his daughters Nina Chen-Langenmayr, husband Eric, grandsons Brian and David (Bryn Mawr, PA); Joanna and partner Sharon Weber (Culver City, CA); and Stacey Chen Cannington, husband Mike and granddaughter Sarah (Fort Myers, FL); numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces.
A memorial service was held in Bryn Mawr, PA and Bill will be laid to rest in Washington, DC with his wife Josephine.

DAWSON - E. Maxine (Krise) Dawson, 82, of St. Cloud, Florida passed away January 7, 2009.
She was born March 3, 1926 to Omer & Sylvia Krise in Kirkpatrick, Indiana.  Maxine moved to St. Cloud in 1958 with her husband Gordon and worked for the First Federal Bank of Osceola for 33 years as Treasurer and Vice President.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordon; two brothers, Gail and Pepper, and a brother-in-law, Jay.  She is survived by three sisters, Jeane, Lois, and Carolyn; a brother, Don; 7 nephews and 8 nieces.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 PM, at Fisk Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 17, 2009 with services at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Craig Adams with the First Baptist Church of St. Cloud.

HADLEY - Richard Lee Hadley, Sr., 61, born March 5, 1947, went home to be with the Lord January 12, 2009.
Born in Holdrege, Nebraska, he moved to Florida in 1967. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a tile setter and then owned D & D furniture until he retired. He enjoyed bowling, darts, karaoke and hanging out in the Waffle House.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary; 5 children: Richard Jr. of Kissimmee (Kathy), Stephen of Kissimmee, Wayne of St. Cloud, Paula Hadley of Bithlo, Kelly Hadley of Kissimmee, and 7 grandchildren: Justin, Taylor, Alisha, Kalina, Karli, Kodi and Kamden. He is also survived by his brothers: Frank, Mike, Billy, Todd, John and one sister, Lori. He was preceded in death by his brother Curtis.
A visitation for Richard will be Friday, January 16th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 Emmett Street, Kissimmee. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 PM at Grissom with a committal service immediately following at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

NUNN - Tony Edel Nunn Sr., 45, of Kissimmee, FL passed away Tuesday evening, January 6, 2009 from complications related to kidney failure.
Tony was the son of Ola (Nunn) Riley and Calvin O'Neal, both deceased.  He leaves behind his loving wife and friend of 21 years, Louise (Dessert) Nunn; 4 sons: Jackar 13, Craig 15, Tony Jr. 17, William Wells 20 and two daughters Brionna 15, and Khadija 14.  He also leaves behind 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Silas (Rose) Brown-Orlando, Cathy Bradshaw-Palm Bay, Lafeitt O'Neal-Ocala, Calvin O'Neal, Renae O'Neal and Nakita Ogletree-Kissimmee, as well as numerous family and friends.
Tony was born and lived most of his life in Kissimmee, FL. He graduated from Osceola High School. He worked for most of his life as a construction worker and was a member of the Local 7 Ironworkers Union in Boston, MA. Tony was proud to say that he had helped build the “Big Dig” through downtown Boston in the 5 years that he was away from Kissimmee.
Tony was a good father who spent much time with his sons teaching them how to ride dirt bikes, fish and shoot and build things with their hands. He shared with them his love of baseball, the outdoors and weightlifting. Tony taught them the important things about how to be a good man, how to treat people with respect and the importance of living a good life. He always reminded them to talk less and listen more, and always give 100% effort.
Tony and his wife shared a loving bond and deep friendship that grew with every day, they were happy in each other’s company.
Tony will be remembered for his kindness of spirit and the gentleness of his soul. He was always ready to help people and never said no when someone needed him. He will be forever mourned and missed by those who loved him. “We love you Dad.”
The viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 PM, as well as Saturday Jan. 17, 2009 from 12:00-2:00 PM, with a memorial service held at 2:30 PM, all at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 105 East Walnut St., Kissimmee, FL.
