On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff Bob Hansell and the Sheriff’s Office will host the first annual Lt. Roger Haddock Trail Ride.

The event will be on property owned by the Kenneth Kirchman Foundation at 7555 Old Melbourne Highway in St. Cloud. The registration fee is $25, which includes the ride and lunch. All proceeds benefit the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Summer Adventure Camp.

The 14-mile trail ride is named in honor of Lt. Roger Haddock, a 20-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office who was killed in the line of duty on March 12, 2000. Haddock was performing mounted patrol duties when his horse reared, falling on top of him.

“Lt. Haddock was considered an expert horseman and was known throughout the agency for his warm smile and upbeat personality. It was only appropriate we honor him and name the trail ride in his memory,” Hansell said.

For more information about participating in the Lt. Roger Haddock Trail Ride, call 407-348-1190 or visit the Sheriff’s Office website at www.osceolasheriff.org.
