St. Cloud Mayor Rebecca Borders is inviting local artists and art enthusiasts to participate in the city of St. Cloud Art in Public Places (SCAPP) Program.
“We are very excited about this new program,” Borders said. “Art is such an important part of the human experience. This will be an extraordinary way for artists and art enthusiasts to learn about each other, increase respect for others’ ways of thinking, and communicate more with one another on thoughts and ideas in a creative way. I invite everyone to participate and I stress that this program is for all Osceola County residents to participate, not just people who are professional artists. Participation does not require a specific level of skill and I believe this will be encouraging to those who feel they are creating artwork that will be of interest to others, yet feel a bit shy about having their work on display. We ask that properly framed original artwork that is ready to professionally display or hang be provided.”
Osceola County residents are invited to display their original works of art for two months in St. Cloud City Hall lobby areas in Building A and Building B and on the Bridge.
Each original artwork exhibition period will be April and May (Cycle 1), June and July (Cycle 2), and August and September (Cycle 3). Applications for all three cycles will be accepted Feb. 1-28.
Application and program guidelines may be downloaded from www.stcloud.org or picked up at City Hall, Building A, third level. Artwork will be available for public viewing at City Hall, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., during each of the two-month exhibition cycle. After application and guidelines review, call 407-957-7301/7303 with any questions.
