DodgeDODGE - Dominic Dean Dodge May 27, 1986- January 13, 2013, Dominic’s life was too short, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He lived life his way, to the fullest. He enjoyed music, fishing, laughter, and spending time with his family and friends. "Buster" Makinson, 72, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Born August 18, 1940 in Kissimmee, Buster was a lifelong resident of Osceola County. A member of a Pioneer Osceola County family, he was the son of W.B. (Dick) and Maxyne Waters Makinson. He was owner and operator of the family business Makinson Hardware founded in 1884 by his grandfather, William B. Makinson, Sr. Makinson Hardware in downtown Kissimmee is the oldest retail hardware store still in operation in the state of Florida. Affectionately known by many as "the store with the horse out front" generations have come to know of Makinson Hardware and as Buster would say "it's the store with everything a settler might need". Buster served on and was a past member of the Osceola County Board of Adjustment, past President of The Kissimmee Boat-A-Cade and a honorary member of the Silver Spurs. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Preceded in death by a brother, Bob Makinson; Buster is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elaine; daughters, Tracy (Bill) Swearingen of Kissimmee, Shannon (Ira, Jr.) Partin of St. Cloud, Florida; sons, Justin Makinson of Old Fort, North Carolina and John Makinson of Kissimmee; sister, Bonnie Makinson Seckel of Placida, Florida; brothers, Bill (Phyllis) Makinson of Kissimmee and Blake (Joyce) Makinson of Tampa, Florida; sister-in-law, Judy Makinson of Kissimmee; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 18 in Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee where funeral services are also scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, with Reverend Dr. Frank Allen of First Presbyterian Church, Kissimmee, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Christus Mausoleum at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family respectfully request memorial contributions in memory of Buster be made to the charity of your choice.

 

Mandeville_Jeanette_cameoMANDEVILLE - Jeanette (Malonson) Mandeville, 74,  of Kissimmee, Florida passed away on January 9, 2013.  She was born and raised in Wakefield, Massachusetts but lived in Kissimmee for over 30 years. Jeanette loved animals, especially her cat, Kali.  She shared special times with her son Kevin and his family when they visited from New Hampshire. One of her favorite experiences with them was when they all swam with the dolphins.  She would call her daughter-in-law Fran to tell her about upcoming animal shows on TV that she thought Fran would like.  She loved to share her stories with Michael and Kristen.  She adored them and loved to listen as they told her about the latest happenings in their lives.  She loved her nephew David’s cooking and played dominos every week with her sisters Esther and Barbara. Jeanette worked at Howard Johnsons when she first moved to Florida and worked at Sam’s Club in Orlando in the Product Demonstration department for many years.   She was also a member of the Red Hat society. She is survived by her son, Kevin, his wife Fran and grandchildren Michael and Kristen of Durham, NH.  She is also survived by sister Barbara Castor of St. Cloud; her brother Paul Malonson of Apopka; her sister Esther Guertin of Kissimmee; her sister Gladys Venslowski of Dillsburg, PA; her nephew David Jordan and his wife Janet of St. Cloud; and several other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2000 13th St. in St. Cloud.  All are welcome. DadSAPER - Allen Saper, 64, of Kissimmee passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.  Allen was born in Brooklyn, NY. He joined the Army serving during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer. He continued his service to his country by becoming a New York City Police Officer. He moved to Florida in 2005. Allen is survived by his children Daniel Saper and Lauren Harwell and grandchildren, Quentin and Reese. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19th at Winter Park Chapel. SMITH - Kathleen A. Smith, 60, born June 6, 1952, went safely home to the Lord Thursday, January 10, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband Ron Monroe, step-daughter Debbie Monroe (Kissimmee) and step-son Ronnie Monroe (Cincinnati).

 

YoungJoanneYOUNG - Jo Anne, age 72, of Lady Lake, Florida died Monday, December 17, 2012 under the care of the Brooksville Health Care Center, Brooksville, Florida. She was the wife of Theron Young for 51 years. Born in Elgin, Illinois. She was the daughter of Roy and Mildred Hahn. Prior to her retirement she was an operator with the telephone company. She was a mom, teacher at the church; in general, she was a teacher of life. She taught at the First Christian Church School, St. Cloud, Florida. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Theron and son, Michael and daughters; Jancie Tabor, Carol Young and Peggy Lucas. She is also survived by a step-son Tim Gordon. She was a grandmother of 9 and has 4 great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service for Jo Anne Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairway Christian Church, 251 Avenida Los Angelos, Lady Lake, Florida 32162.
