Kissimmee Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying an occupied burglary suspect in Kissimmee.

On Saturday an unknown male knocked on the door of the home of the 81-year-old Smith Street resident. The suspect told the victim that his grandfather owns the company that installed the roof on the house and that it was still under warranty. The suspect stated that there were several loose shingles that he needed to repair per the warranty agreement.

The victim initially believed the suspect and allowed him into the back yard to examine shingles on the side of the house, though the house has not had roof repairs since 2005. The victim began to get suspicious and asked for identification and a business card from the suspect. The suspect could not provide either and victim asked the suspect to leave her property.

The victim stated there was a second suspect who stayed in the suspect’s vehicle during the initial contact.  After asking the first suspect to leave the victim went back inside her home and noticed the second suspect had entered her home and was exiting the bathroom as she entered.  This suspect went through her purse and took some money.  After the victim confronted the second suspect, both suspects left the area in a newer model, two-door shiny black sedan vehicle.

The victim described the initial suspect as a Hispanic male with an average build and no distinguishable features and spoke English without an accent, but victim was not able to complete a composite of this suspect. The suspect who entered the home was described as a Hispanic male approximately six feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. The victim described him having “a big head, big nose, large legs and very dark and thick hair.” He was last seen wearing a non-descript gray shirt and blue pants.

Anyone with information about these suspects or the crime is asked to contact the Kissimmee Police Department at 407-846-3333, by e-mail at seeitsayit@kissimmee.org or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous, and tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects and/or the recovery of stolen property and drugs are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000.
