Armando R. Ramirez, Osceola County clerk of court-elect, will take the oath of office at 1 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Osceola County Historic Courthouse in downtown Kissimmee.

Ramirez, of Puerto Rican descent, will be the first Hispanic serving as a state constitutional officer in Osceola County. Ramirez, a retired supervising rackets investigator for the District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, N.Y., has been a local voting rights advocate for more than two decades, becoming involved in various causes after moving to the Kissimmee area following his retirement.

Ramirez won election by defeating Republican Rayelynne Ketchum Nov. 6. He also beat incumbent Malcom Thompson and newcomer Alpha Lacy in the Democratic primary election in August.

In case of rain, the event will take place inside the Historic Courthouse..
