Usher in the new year with some smoked prime rib or maybe a special discounted price for the longest running dinner attraction in North America.

 

 

If it is has been a while since you checked out the Smokey Bones in Kissimmee (2911 Vineland Road) New Year’s Eve is a great time.

The restaurant, which features lots of TVs for bowl and NFL viewing, has a special holiday dining menu that includes the Signature Smoked Prime Rib, smoked in the restaurant over real hickory logs plus the Apple Pecan Crumble.

The prime rib is available in 10 oz. ($14.99) and 14 oz. ($19.99) cuts and includes two side orders.

The cozy, inviting atmosphere of Smokey Bones makes dinner even more special.

Save room for that dessert or order one and share. The Apple Pecan Crumble features cinnamon-roasted sliced Jonathan apples, toosed with carmelized pecans, and topped with butter crumble. It comes hot out of the hot served with vanilla ice cream. It is $5.99.

Both items will only be on the menu through Jan. 6.

Smokey Bones also accepts party orders for the holiday, including family packs feeding families as small as four persons up to 100. Office packs also are available.

The “pack” deals include items such as barbecue chicken, wings, St. Lous ribs, hand-pulled pork, beef brisket and baby back ribs as well as side items such as cold slaw, baked beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and fire roasted corn.

Now through March 2013, guests will get $25 for every $250 spent on pre-booked parties.

“The holidays give Smokey Bones the opportunity to really pull out all the stops for our guests,” said Roger J. Drake, senior vice president of marketing for Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill. “Our food travels so well, and we want to make sure our guests are aware that we have To Go offerings, especially this time of year when everyone is so busy with holiday shopping and visiting friends and family.”

Gators on big screen

Broadway Pizza Bar in downtown Kissimmee will host a Sugar Bowl Watch Party Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m.

You can watch the Florida Gators play Louisville in New Orleans on a large inflatable screen. The Central Florida Gator Club will be there with lots of Gator giveaways as well as coordinating Gator cheers and songs.   Broadway Pizza Bar has arranged for the road to be closed. Bring a chair and get food and drink specials  when you wear your Gator Gear. Live Music at halftime from Adam Dodge.

Medieval Times

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament  has special pricing and additional show times this weekend plus a special New Year’s Eve party.

Tickets during the holiday season are just $32.95 for adults and $29.95 for children. Additional show times will be held today and Sunday (shows run 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

“We want our guests to enjoy the holidays with us at Medieval Times,” said Jose Lopez, Medieval Times Florida Castle’s General Manager. “Providing them with a chance to see our show at a discounted rate and offering additional viewing opportunities is our way of spreading the holiday spirit.”

In addition to this special holiday deal, Medieval Times will also host a New Year’s Eve party, which includes a special 9:30 p.m. show, hors d’oeuvres, admission to the Medieval Village, a four-course medieval feast, party favors, a DJ and dancing, champagne toast at midnight (non-alcoholic substitutes will be available for guests under 21), a midnight countdown with balloon drop and a continental breakfast. Tickets for the party are $69.95 for adults and $35.95 for children.

Medieval Times unveiled a new show earlier this year, which was the attraction’s first since 2007. The new show features more rivalry and revelry than ever before. The updated show offers many new elements while retaining some of the most popular traditions. The live show still features two- and four-legged performers (knights and horses) with a utensil-free meal served in a castle-inspired arena.

Guests will enjoy a utensil-free meal during the new show.  The menu includes:

Pub Crawl

You can get a head start on the celebrating of a new year tonight in downtown Kissimmee at the first monthly pub crawl.

For $25 you can make stops at six different locations along Dakin Ave. Part of the proceeds will go to a different non-profit group each month.

This month’s stops and features:

1.  Martini Bar - a special Martini exclusively for Pub Crawlers.

2.  Sushi Bar -a special Pub Çrawl roll.

3. Three Sisters - TBA

4. Vintage Vino - a special beer or a pairing red/white/sparkling wine with Chef Savion’s Pub Crawl dish.

5. Savion’s Place - a special appetizer.

6. Wicked Stepsister - TBA

Game of Thrones

You won’t be able to toast the new year with a specialty bottle of beer inspired by the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones, but a series of themed beers based on the show is on the way.

HBO has licensed with brewery Ommegang to produce some unique beers that directly tie into themes , characters from the medieval-like fantasy series.

The inaugural beer, Iron Throne Blonde Ale, will launch nationally timed to the season 3 premiere of the show on March 31. It will be available on draft and in 750 ml. bottles for the suggested retail price of $8.50 per bottle beginning mid to late March. This will be followed by the launch of another Game of Thrones-inspired beer in the fall and two additional beers in subsequent seasons.

Ommegang beers, which are created by Brewmaster Phil Leinhart, have gained a national following by connoisseurs of fine beer and are distributed in 45 states and internationally. The Belgian-style brewery is located on a 136-acre farmstead in Cooperstown, New York.
