A St. Cloud man who stole a car and put a St. Cloud school on lock-down this morning was arrested at St. Cloud Hospital, where he took the car.

At approximately 6:21 a.m., the St. Cloud Police Department received numerous calls in reference to a subject, later identified as Glenn J. Bay, 40, 6445 Eve Street, St. Cloud, who was acting bizarre and possibly under the influence of narcotics. Callers noted the subject had run through area neighborhoods acting strange. At 7:16, Bay reportedly walked on to school grounds at Lakeview Elementary, which was not yet in session for the day, SCPD spokesperson Denise Roberts said.

He reportedly asked a school employee to call 911, but then took off running. The subject was not armed, nor did he threaten anyone at the school, but it went into “lock-down” for precautionary reasons.

He then reportedly made contact with a family in the area of 5th Street and Columbia Avenue. The family was inside their vehicle, a 2003 Ford Expedition, and Bay asked to be taken to the hospital, Roberts said. Due to his strange behavior the family went inside a business and called 911, leaving the vehicle unattended with the keys inside. The subject entered the family’s vehicle, drove himself to St. Cloud Hospital and he went inside seeking treatment.

Bay was apprehended by police at the hospital and is in police custody. He was awaiting booking into the Osceola County Jail Tuesday afternoon on charges of trespass on school grounds, disruption of an education institute, occupied burglary to conveyance and grand theft auto.
