A Davenport driver, identified Monday afternoon as Charles Hightower, 45, was killed after he vehicle, a 2000 Dodge pickup truck, left northbound Poinciana Boulevard south of Crescent Lakes Way, traveled onto the grass median, then struck a tree with its driver’s side, Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Kim Montes said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
