According to published reports, a 41-year-old Osceola County woman has dengue fever, according to the Osceola County Health Department.

The Health Department said it did  not know if the woman traveled outside the country at all, but it said it was confirmed through lab tests.

The Health Department is warning people to be careful with mosquitoes and mosquito bites. Dengue is a viral disease transferred by a breed of mosquito common in the tropical and the southeastern United States. Reported cases in Florida are rare. It is not spread from person to person.
Symptoms of dengue fever vary - infants and young children may have a fever and a rash. Older children and adults can get a more severe case of the disease, with high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and join pains and rash.

Why wouldn't the Health dept ask if the lady had traveled. It is important to know if she got infected in Key West, or Puerto Rico or Poinciana. A generic "Watch out for mosquitos" is a 12th rate response. Great reporting.
