SMITH - Wayne Smith  passed on to be with the Lord, his loved ones, and friends on October 27, 2012. He was loved by all that knew him.

Wayne was born at English, W. VA to Noah and Naomah Logan Smith October 19, 1928 and grew up in the Iaeger-Bradshaw area of West Virginia and graduated from Iaeger High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army in 1950. He married Lillian Willard in 1952. After his discharge from the Army, he and Lillian moved to Ann Arbor Michigan area where he was employed by General Motors.

He and Lilllian became interested in antiques and they worked in Auctions, she as a record keeper and him as auctioneer. They accumulated quite an array of antiques, especially clocks. He also became interested in Ham Radios. And received several awards and recognition for assisting people misplaced or lost by tornados, train wrecks, etc.

In 1972, Wayne came to visit relatives that had recently moved to St. Cloud, Florida. And during that visit “he said that he got sand in his shoes” and bought a house on Carolina Avenue and flew back to Michigan to tell Lillian to start packing for their move to Florida. He retired from GM. Upon returning to Florida he soon became employed by Mercury Marine. He set up his Ham Radios and became acquainted with local operators and became a life long member of the Osceola Repeaters Organization. And became great friends with Les, Adolfo, Bruce and others until developing Alzheimers. His wife Lillian passed away in 2011 after a long bout with diabetes. And prior to her passing they both came to live with his sister, as caretaker, in early 2010.

In addition to his parents, sister Irene Smith Dale (Walter) pre-deceased him.

Survivors are Sister Betty Smith Murphy of St. Cloud, FL. Niece Judy Dale (Ralph) Richmond, Princeton, W. VA; Grand Niece Amy Murphy Anderson, Las Vegas, NV; Alicia Murphy Scottsdale, AZ; Nephews Robert W. Murphy, St. Cloud, FL; William J. Murphy (Shari), Winter Park, FL; Donald (Della), Clifton Forge, VA; Billy G. Dale, Welch, W. VA Scott Dale, Avondale, W. VA; Logan Murphy, Winter Park, FL. Special Friends: Joan and Mickey Damron, Fort Mahave, AZ; Jean and Don Duevall, Hollywood, MD; Christine and Sonny Pratt, Morristown, TN.

New Horizon Funeral Chapel and Cremation 821 13th Street, St. Cloud, Florida handling arrangements.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5 at the New Horizon Funeral Chapel and Cremation, With a graveside inurnment following at Mount Peace Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Full Military Honors courtesy of Osceola County Veteran’s Council.
