The New York Artist Shop, 1124 New York Ave., St. Cloud, will host an artist reception Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring the artist of the month.

Savannah Stone, New York Artist Shop’s featured artist for the month of October, was born and raised here in Central Florida.

According to an artist shop press release, ever since she first picked up a crayon, she has loved the feeling of having a creative outlet. Most children have a new passion every day; yet, she never let go of her passion. Instead, she developed her skills with education. Stone enrolled in Osceola County School for the Arts, where she majored in visual arts. After she graduated in 2008, she went to Valencia College to get an associates degree in studio arts, and graduated this past spring. Her favorite artists include Salvador Dali, Sylvia Ji, Alex Pardee and Andy Warhol.

Her passion and commitment has not gone without recognition. Currently, she works as a tattoo artist at Violet & Blues Tattoos in Orlando.

She also is beginning her career as a professional artist doing commission work, and has displayed her work at various Orlando galleries, such as City Arts Factory and the AKA lounge (now Club 57 West).

The artist reception will include Day of the Dead, horror, and tattooed themed artwork, as well as handcrafted accessories that are sure to conjure up the spirit of Halloween.
