“The witnesses we have so far are uncertain of what took place and are giving conflicting stories,” Sgt. Denise Roberts said, adding police are looking for witnesses who may have seen what occurred before, during and after impact who was not involved.

St. Cloud does not have surveillance or red light cameras monitoring intersections.

Police responded to the traffic accident about 3:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and 13th Street involving two vehicles and three motorcycles, with several people sustaining multiple injuries.

The motorcyclist, identified as Richard A. Phillips, 54, of Barefoot Bay, was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with a head injury after being struck by a 2010 silver Chevrolet Equinox but was later pronounced dead, Roberts said. She was unsure if the man was wearing a helmet.

Two other people were transported to St. Cloud Hospital and a third person drove themselves to the hospital seeking medical attention.

Traffic lanes in both directions were closed until midnight on 13th Street due to the traffic crash investigation, which continues to be on-going.

Anyone with information regarding the accident should call the St. Cloud police Traffic Unit at 407-891-6749.
