County high school cross country teams are entering the final phase of the season with the Orange Belt Conference meet set Oct. 24.
Gateway recently hosted a meet that included teams from Osceola, Poinciana and New Dimensions.
Gateway (20) defeated Osceola’s (35) boys. Poinciana and New Dimensions did not have team scores.
Osceola’s (32) girls defeated Gateway (63) and Poinciana (81).
Osceola’s Frank Garcia (18:30) won the boys race.
He was followed by five Gateway runners: Jean Tonos (19:24), Robert Rodriguez (19:35), Jerry Jonathans (19:41), Luis Amado (19:54) and Brad Johnson (19:55).
Osceola’s Fox Baldwin (19:56) and Ariel Dominguez (20:20) were next.
New Dimensions’ Yanese Arevalo (22:59) won the girls race. Poinciana’s Gabby Rodriguez (23:05) was second, followed by Yasmine Arevalo (23:18) of New Dimensions.
Osceola’s Destiney Merckling (23:52), Chantal Crockett (24:20) and Keilah Vicari (25:35) took the next three spots before Gateway’s Trisha Davis (26:06) finished.
Osceola runners Melanie Agosto (26:37), Brittany Gomez (26:48) and Gisel Santiago (26:55) were next before Gateway’s Stephanie Rosado (27:01) and Veronica Martinez (27:02) crossed. They were followed by Poinciana’s Jasmine Plummer (27:37) and Shana Nelson (27:49).
Gateway will host the conference meet at Florida Christian College.
Neptune Middle School won the middle school boys (31) and girls (26) conference cross country championships Wednesday at FCC.
St. Cloud (89), Celebration (101) and Horizon (124) were next for the girls, while Celebration (83), St. Cloud (127) and Horizon (134) followed in the boys race.
Neptune’s Ashia Newsome (14:37) won the girls race followed by Cameron Turner (14:46) of Horizon and Tianna Lyons (15:54) from Discovery.
Neptune’s Jimmy Sanchez (13:18) was the boys champion.
A’Irrion Scott-West (13:49) of Neptune and Paul McCrimon (13:54) of Denn John followed.
