AKERS - Mr. James B Akers, 79, of Intercession City, passed away on Friday, October 5th, 2012.

cox_002COX - Jerry Dwain Cox, 63 of Kissimmee passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born in Catron, Missouri December 30, 1948 the son of James and Dovy Cox. Jerry moved to Kissimmee in 1979 from Burton, Michigan. He was a Baptist by faith, a member of the American Legion Post #80 of St. Cloud, Florida and their past commander, a member of the V.F.W. of Kissimmee, DAV of Kissimmee and the Osceola Riders. Jerry and his wife Barbara were the former owners of the Popcorn Palace in St. Cloud, Florida from 1995 to 2000. He also worked at Osceola High School as a custodian from 1985 to 1995 and was a bartender and Karaoke DJ  for many years at the Corvette Lounge and the American Legion. Jerry is a Veteran of the United States Army serving his country faithfully during the Viet Nam War and received the Purple Heart as a result of being severely wounded. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Barbara "Barb" of Kissimmee, Florida; sons: Daniel Cox of Lewisville, Texas and Kenneth Rockwell of Holly, Michigan; daughters: Kimberly Cox of Oscoda, Michigan and Michelle Zinda of Clio, Michigan; mother: Dovy Goforth of Burton, Michigan; sister: Debra Sue Howard of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Virginia "Ellen" Goforth of Burton, Michigan; aunt: Nadine "Nina" Cowan of Davison, Michigan; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Jerry D. Cox will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post # 80, 1019 Pennsylvania Ave, St. Cloud, Florida 34769 on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. COMBEE – Bill "Runt" Combee, 88, of Haines City, FL passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2012 from heart failure. Runt was born in Lakeland, FL on January 24, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of Polk County. After high school Runt entered the U.S. Army and fought for our country during World War II. For over fifty years he owned and operated Haines City Industries, growing, harvesting and hauling citrus. Runt served as Mayor of Haines City and spent his entire life working to provide for his family while serving the town and the churches he has belonged to; Eastside, Shamrock and Oak Hill Baptist. Runt was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Boone & Donnie Ellerbee Combee, a sister Wanda Combee Matthews, and his daughter, Brandy Combee. He is survived by his wife, Darby Combee; daughters Jane Combee (Fred) McTeer and Amy Combee (Brandon) Layne; son Billy Combee; sister Elna Combee Bowen; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Burial following service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee, FL.

 

DUNIHUE - Mrs. Debra Sue Dunihue, 58, of Orlando passed away on Thursday October 11, 2012. Arrangements under the direction of Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee.

 

KEMP - Mrs. Iris Bridgett Kemp, 84, of Kissimmee, FL., passed away on Sunday, October 7th, 2012.  
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 pm on Friday October 12, 2012, at The Good Samaritan Community Church at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, Fla.
