Kissimmee Police Department’s new chief, Lee Massie, will be sworn in Tuesday during the 6 p.m. Kissimmee City Commission meeting at Kissimmee City Hall, 101 N. Church St. It is open to the public.

Massie will be sworn in as the 17th police chief for Kissimmee, succeeding Chief Fran Iwanski, who retired Friday after 25 years with the force.

Massie has spent 28 years throughout Central Florida in law enforcement service, most recently as interim police chief for the Windermere Police Department on loan from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

During his tenure at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Massie served as commander for the Patrol Division Sector 2 and was the director of the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange (CFIX) Fusion Center.

“I welcome the opportunity to utilize my experience and leadership skills as the police chief for the city of Kissimmee,” Massie said in a statement. “It will be my honor to serve the citizens of the city of Kissimmee alongside the men and women of the Kissimmee Police Department.”

A brief reception will be held immediately following the meeting and light refreshments will be served.
