It’s getting to be a habit that the football game between Harmony and Merritt Island is a wet one.

For the second year in a row, rain caused problems. The teams played Saturday after thunderstorms postponed the game last Friday.

The outcome, unfortunately for the Longhorns, was the same – Merritt Island won, this time 14-0.

Harmony, 0-2, travels to Palm Bay Heritage, 2-0, Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Merritt Island scored in the first half on an interception return, and the score stayed 7-0 until the fourth quarter.

“We moved the ball, we had some opportunities (to score),” Coach Jerrad Butler said. “I think we’ve made improvements from last week. We are making progress, and we’re getting some pieces to the puzzle back.”

Butler is encouraged that the defense gave up only one touchdown.

“The kids are staying positive, and there is a lot to be positive about,” Butler said. “You don’t like the outcome, but we are doing some good things. We just need to be more consistent.”

Heritage beat Titusville, 48-7, Monday.
